Overview
Before anything else comes foundational health. Sleep, movement, and nutrition are not optional extras — they are the platform everything else is built on. Without them in place, no supplement, peptide, or protocol will perform the way the research suggests it can.
This 30-minute consultation is a focused, practical conversation with Gina Maxwell, Foundational Health Advisor and founder of Velyx Research. It is not a medical appointment. It is not a prescription. It is an honest, evidence-informed conversation about where you are, where you want to be, and what the research says about the foundations that get you there.
The session covers three areas:
- Sleep — quality, consistency, and the downstream effects of poor sleep on hormones, metabolism, recovery, and cognitive function
- Movement — not just exercise, but how your body moves through the day, recovery, and the research around different training approaches for different goals and life stages
- Nutrition — not diets, not calorie counting, but the foundational principles the research consistently supports regardless of the approach you follow
You will leave with clarity on where your foundations currently sit and practical, evidence-informed starting points for addressing any gaps.
What's included

Who This Is For
This consultation is designed for people who are serious about their health and want to make sure the foundations are genuinely solid before adding anything else into the picture.
It is particularly relevant if you:
- Are in your 30s, 40s, or 50s and noticing changes in energy, sleep, body composition, or recovery that you want to understand and address
- Are approaching or going through perimenopause or menopause and want to understand how foundational health choices interact with hormonal changes
- Are dealing with a niggling injury, chronic inflammation, or slow recovery and want to explore what the research says about lifestyle factors in tissue repair
- Have been doing the right things — eating well, training, sleeping — but feel like something still isn't working and want an outside perspective
- Are considering peptide research and want to make sure the foundations are in place first
This is not a weight loss programme, a fitness plan, or a medical service. It is a focused conversation about foundational health, grounded in current research and tailored to where you are right now.

About Gina
Gina Maxwell is the founder of Velyx Research and a Foundational Health Advisor with over a decade of hands-on clinical practice in sports and remedial massage therapy. Working directly with clients across injury, recovery, and physical performance gave her a firsthand understanding of how the body responds to stress — and how profoundly sleep, movement, and nutrition shape every outcome.
Gina holds a certificate in Nutrition Foundations and is currently completing the PHA (Precision Health Alliance) Level 1 programme — one of the most advanced personalised health qualifications available. On completion, she will combine AI-driven health technology with behavioural coaching intelligence to deliver a level of individualisation that goes far beyond standard health advice. No generic protocols. No one-size-fits-all recommendations. A genuinely personalised, data-informed picture of what your body specifically needs.
That philosophy underpins everything at Velyx. Foundational health always comes first. Before any research compound, any protocol, any optimisation layer — sleep, nutrition, and movement have to be genuinely in place. This consultation is an expression of that belief.
This consultation does not constitute medical advice. Gina Maxwell is a Foundational Health Advisor, not a medical practitioner.
Common Questions
I eat well and exercise but I'm still exhausted — is that something you cover?
Yes — and it's one of the most common things people bring to this consultation. Persistent fatigue despite doing the right things is almost always a foundations issue. Sleep quality, training load relative to recovery, nutrient timing, and stress physiology all play a role. The consultation looks at where the gaps might be and what the research says about addressing them.
I'm in my 40s and my body feels completely different to how it used to — where do I even start?
This is exactly what the consultation is designed for. The hormonal shifts that begin in your late 30s and accelerate through perimenopause change how your body responds to sleep, food, and exercise in ways that can feel bewildering if you don't know what's driving them. The session helps you understand what's happening physiologically and where to focus your attention first.
I can't lose weight no matter what I do — can this help?
Weight that won't shift despite a good diet and regular exercise is almost always connected to one of three things — sleep quality, stress physiology, or metabolic changes driven by hormonal shifts. This consultation doesn't offer a weight loss programme. What it does is look at the foundational factors that directly influence how your body manages energy and fat storage, and what the research says about addressing them.
My sleep has got so much worse — I fall asleep fine but wake up at 3am. Is this something you can help with?
Yes — and the 3am wake pattern specifically is extremely common in perimenopause and is well understood physiologically. It's almost always connected to blood sugar regulation and cortisol rhythms rather than a sleep disorder. The consultation covers sleep architecture, what disrupts it at different life stages, and practical, evidence-informed starting points for improving it.
I have a recurring injury that just won't heal — is this relevant to me?
Absolutely. Slow or incomplete recovery from injury is rarely just a structural problem. Sleep quality, nutritional status — particularly protein intake and micronutrients involved in tissue repair — and inflammation driven by lifestyle factors all directly influence how the body heals.
I feel like my recovery from exercise has got much slower — I used to bounce back in a day, now it takes three or four. Is that normal?
It's common but it's not something you have to accept. Declining recovery capacity is closely linked to changes in growth hormone secretion, sleep quality, and nutritional support — all of which shift significantly from your late 30s onwards.
I've been told my bloods are normal but I feel anything but — is there anything you can offer?
This is one of the most frustrating experiences in women's health and it's incredibly common. Standard blood panels are designed to identify pathology, not to optimise function. The consultation focuses on the lifestyle foundations that influence how you feel day to day, independent of clinical markers.
Is this suitable if I have a medical condition?
The consultation covers foundational lifestyle health only and does not constitute medical advice. If you have an existing medical condition, please consult your GP before making changes to your health routine.
